This established garden has been redesigned as a contemporary cottage garden in conjunction with the clients’ new kitchen extension. By the house a sandstone patio adjoins a terrace containing lush planting and feature trees such as an Amelanchier lamarckii multi-stem, which can be seen from the picture window in the extension. Beyond this green vista is a central area for dining, where, as the planting matures, the family will be enclosed by the planting and have views across the garden.
The pathway meandering through the garden is interplanted with creeping thyme and geraniums for fragrance and colour. Mature planting – such as a mimosa, apple and plum trees and Mahonia – are complemented by new additions such Hydrangea, ferns, grasses and Bergenia.
