A simple layout unifying the raised area at the back of the clients’ garden with the
area near the house, with a winding brick path immersed in swathes of nature-loving and fragrant planting connecting the two spaces. Two trees balance out the existing holly, pruned into a single-stem tree, with planting chosen to complement the tree’s dark, glossy leaves and red berries.

The fruiting trees – a crab apple and cherry – and alpine strawberries encourage nature into the garden. As the red-brick path winds up to the rear of the garden, this area itself is screened off by a generous bed of planting, creating a private and secluded space in which the clients can read and relax.
